After studying philosophy and classics at University, Padraic Taaffe spent 25 years in a career as a chef in restaurants, hotels, cruise ships, and catering sites from Chicago, New York, and Minneapolis to Berlin, Nice, and Dublin. He worked in Michelin-starred restaurants, corporate venues, off-site event catering, and major hotels and resorts. He has been on the leadership team for half a dozen new restaurant and hotel openings and for three new cruise ship launches.
After emigrating to Canada in 2010, he completed an MBA from Athabasca University and has held positions in hospital and long-term care management, and First Nations healthcare and community services management. He has been involved in seniors' housing issues as a charitable organization board member and as a consultant and has experience with non-profit housing issues in northern Ontario.
Padraic speaks German fluently and French reasonably well, and tries to keep up the Latin and Ancient Greek that he learned in school. He lives in Chapleau with his family and enjoys sculling and long-distance bicycle rides.
